North Korea Experiences Major Internet Outage, Suspected Internal Issues

On July 7, North Korea encountered a significant internet outage affecting various government departments and official media websites. The Pyongyang authorities have not disclosed the cause of the incident, but experts suggest that the outage could be due to equipment failure or internal power issues rather than an external cyberattack.
According to cybersecurity researcher Ali from the UK, on the morning of the 7th, North Korea’s internet experienced a major disruption impacting important government sites, including its primary state media and the foreign ministry, which became inaccessible for unknown reasons.
Ali noted that during the outage, North Korean government and media websites, along with related network infrastructure, vanished from monitoring systems. Attempts to connect through IP addresses in China or Russia were also cut off. He speculates that this situation is akin to experiencing "network stress," likely caused by internal errors such as power outages or equipment failures, rather than an external attack. Reports indicate that around 10 AM Taiwan time on July 7, the North Korean state media outlet "Korean Central News Agency" resumed operations.
