Germany Launches AI Strategy: Plans to Build $90 Billion Superfactory, Huang Renxun to Meet Chancellor

NVIDIA CEO Huang Renxun is set to travel to Europe this week to discuss plans for a $90 billion AI superfactory in Germany with Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil.

According to Handelsblatt, the EU is pushing a €20 billion AI infrastructure project aimed at constructing several "AI superfactories" to train large language models. Each factory is expected to be equipped with over 100,000 AI chips, with equipment costs estimated to reach $3 billion.

Moreover, Huang Renxun is expected to announce several investment plans related to European computing infrastructure during his trip, focusing on cities like London and Paris, and attending the "VivaTech" conference.

The German government shows a strong interest in establishing AI factories, striving to have at least one located within its borders. This meeting is expected to confirm relevant site selection and partnership frameworks.

While Europe is actively promoting autonomous technology development, it currently lacks local chip manufacturers that can compete with NVIDIA. As a result, the EU is considering adjustments to the AI legislation passed last year to align with industry needs.
