Annecy Animation Festival Spotlights Taiwan's Diverse Creations

According to reports from Public Television Service International, the annual highlight of the animation world—the Annecy International Animation Festival and Market—has opened in France, led by Taiwan's Creative Content Agency, featuring five Taiwanese animation teams presenting their proposals to actively capture the attention of the international industry.
Over 17,000 professionals from around the globe have gathered in this 40-year-old market amid a wave of heat. The TAIWAN SPOTLIGHT proposal session attracted more than a hundred international investors and curators who focused on the development of Taiwanese animation. Director Lava of 'The Clumsy Organizer' stated, “What makes our idea interesting is that different children have various perspectives and values related to organizing rooms, managing tasks, and sorting emotions. This series could serve as a fantastic bridge. Our hope is to create impact and be engaging, potentially fostering positive values.” Producer Tubo remarked, “You can feel the vibrant energy from the diverse faces of animation professionals; it’s an incredibly rare sensation.”
Taiwan's proposals showcase a diversity of themes, reflecting the richness of Taiwan's cultural landscape. International audience Sergio Araya noted, “Wow, all the animations are fantastic, especially 'Running Boy,' which had a clear story that was easy to understand, very relatable to our Chilean culture. We are closely connected; we believe in family, in children, and in the hope within our team.”
Taiwanese works transcend cultural and linguistic barriers, attracting the attention of international partners. Teams are seizing this rare opportunity for international exchange. Director Liao Daiyou of 'Song of the Mountain Witch' shared, “In character design, we are leaning towards the European market and international market, so our artistic style has received considerable attention. Many animation companies, some that we could not have imagined previously, have shown great interest in collaborating with us.”
In addition to the proposal sessions, many established Taiwanese works also shone at the event. Director Liu Yushu of 'Eight-Pit Monster' highlighted, “'Eight-Pit Monster' is an interactive VR work that connects online and offline. We are thrilled that this traditional Taiwanese puppet show combined with technology made it to such a significant animation festival.” The Creative Content Agency also established a Taiwanese booth featuring 47 development potential works from 31 companies, actively engaging in international matchmaking and showcasing Taiwan's vibrant animation talent.
